ABSTRACT

Introduction: Since the appearance of the first patients infected by COVID 19;Multiple cases with haemostasis disorders have been reported, both in deceased and critically ill patients, evidenced by the presence of clots and thrombosis events at different levels. Despite this, it is unknown whether this activation of coagulation prevails in patients after their recovery. Objective: To determine alterations in hemostasis in convalescent adult patients from COVID-19. Methods: An observational, descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study was carried out in 43 convalescent patients. Prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, clot retraction, platelet count, fibrinogen, anticardiolipin antibodies, lupus anticoagulant, plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 and tissue plasminogen activator. Results: Prolonged PT was found in 2 patients, shortened PTT in 4 and prolonged in 1, non-retractile clot in 8 patients, thrombocytosis in one and increased fibrinogen in 15. In 86 % (n = 37) the presence of LA and ACA in 7 patients, PAI 1 elevated in 18.6 %, tPA increased in 34.9 %. The presence of LA predominated in patients with care and complications. Conclusions: After the acute period of infection, some parameters of hemostasis remain elevated, which is possibly related to the underlying inflammatory process.
